She stood silently at the edge of the rooftop of a six-story building with her toes barely dangling off. It would be understandable to think that her heart would beat at a much faster pace, but she was calm and collect. It was a dark and cold, but an amazingly starry night. She couldn’t take the time to appreciate its beauty because that night was also windy. Every so often, the wind became aggressive enough to just barely nudge her body in some direction, and it didn’t matter which. In each and every nudge, fear gripped her body with vigor and reminded her that a simple nudge in any direction would cause her to lose balance. She didn’t fear the nudge per se, rather, that the wind seemed quite determined to disrupt her midnight plan.

Temperance

Part 1: Heaven
The bedroom was barely illuminated by the closet’s flush ceiling light fixture. It had given the room a soft and old yellow tint. The shadows encompassing the room, along with the minuscule rays of light, gave her chocolate brown skin immense depth and contrast. As she inhaled and exhaled, her extremely fit, but smooth and curvaceous body moved ever so slightly. She was breathing art. We sat on the bedroom sofa two feet away from each other. Whether two feet, or 100,000 miles, our attraction to and subtle connection with each other kept us from being separated by any such minute distances. We were enveloped by our summertime romance. Even worse, we were fully aware that we were teetering on the edge of infidelity.

Children of Masochism: Ambitious Girl

I walk up to her, and with my hand, I gently grab the side of her face. I gaze into her eyes deeply, and although she is initially confused as to why I’m intimately fondling her this way, she begins to feel the emotions perspiring from my body. The embers of emotions flaring off. In that moment, we are isolated and the world is enveloped in darkness, only lit lightly by our embers. Now, as she is understanding the feelings exuding from me as she gazes back into my eyes, my soul, the adolescent and weak connection that we initially shared accelerates into maturity and is set ablaze. A ruptured oil pipeline with infinite reserves lit by our fiery connection. Even more, she is peering into a brighter world, a life in which nothing is impossible, … or unimaginable. She knows, and feels it within her beating heart, that life simply becomes a matter of probability and the love we put into our hard work to increase those probabilities. I say this to you, this girl I’m meeting for the first time. As I still caress your supple facial skin, I say this to you my Ambitious Girl, “what you aspire to be?” (Wale)

The Grass is Always Greener

Inevitability is daunting. Certainty of an impending doom can drive you insane.

Dazzling giant sunflowers surround me in an oh so imperfectly perfect circle, standing eight feet tall; and their stalks are as vibrant as green mildew. At its center, I lay. I lay with my back arched, trying to escape what laid beneath me.

I smother it. I twirl my fingers in between each bristle. I momentarily become Tinker Bell, letting this wind carry me through all of these little earth hairs. It is more intoxicating than I envisioned it so long ago. A high that, unconditionally, keeps on giving. As I lay there with hundreds of tips caressing my back, they dig deeper penetrating my skin until they intimately intertwine with the one thing that makes me feel: my nerves.

Javascript: How to Access Object Property Using Variable

Hey ladies and gents. I’ve seen plenty of Javascript online material describing how to access an object’s key-value pair. I wanted to associate many keys represented as variables to many values represented as functions. Variables helps make my program more reusable and dynamic. Just another day in the life of me. 🙂

Example:

Android Custom ROM: Bluetooth & WiFi Not Working Fix

Hey ladies and gents. I would like to aid anyone who is developing a custom Android operating system, but are encountering connectivity issues with the bluetooth and WiFi peripherals. I have flashed custom ROMs ( from Android 4.0 – 4.4) plenty of times, but 4.2 has been a hard-ass. The Nexus 4 drivers that you are supposed compile into an OTA package are not correctly functioning my with my custom OS (Identidroid). The peripherals never turn on. I figured out a hack for temporary purposes, and I would like to share it with anyone who may need it. Just another day in the life of me :).

Context
Device: Nexus 4
API: 4.2.2
Build: android-4.2.2_r1.2
Environment: Ubuntu 12.04
Recovery image: ClockworkMod

Flashing
The flashing step is pretty much straightforward. I am assuming you are familiar with the context information above. If not, SOL.

1. Download the stock factory images from Android 4.2.2, and flash the stock rom using the downloaded instructions. The stock rom may overwrite ClockworkMod. If that happens, you simply need to re-flash the recovery image.
2. Enter the command (in fastboot mode):
   fastboot flash system [path/to/custom/rom/]system.img
3. In ClockworkMod, wipe:
   1. the user data,
   2. cache
   3. Dalvik Cache
4. Reboot and PROFIT!!!

To summarize what is happening, I am basically using the stock OS images, but replacing the system.img file. It’s a simple hack, until I figure out why it seems as if my custom OS is incompatible with the Nexus 4 drivers for 4.2.2. This was a quick post, so if there are any questions or if there is something I missed, just shoot me a comment.

Android Beam: Sending Files

Ok, ladies and gents. I’ve been busting my head against the wall trying to figure out why Android Beam (AB) refuses to beam my file! I have used it to beam NDEF messages with relatively no problems, but when it came to my files, it was like hell on Earth. I kept getting the error “beam not complete.” No Shit! The problem was the file’s name had the standard naming scheme of a zip file (i.e., ends with “.zip”). I simply changed my zip file name from “file.zip” to “file.jpg”, and the file beamed! Once it was beamed over to the other device, I renamed it back .zip so that apps can properly recognize it is a zipped file. I wish I knew that sooner instead wasting half a day on this. Does this mean AB only beams recognized, simple  formats? I don’t know. Maybe I had skipped that part in the documentation. I hope this helps someone out there. Just another day in the life of me 🙂

Something Had to Give

John slightly pulls his wrist out of his jacket pocket, making sure he doesn’t reveal the gun he’s holding inside of it. He checks his battered watch. Twenty-three minutes he has been walking towards the theatre.  Twenty-three minutes thinking of the pain she caused him. Twenty-three minutes to think about if he should have turned into every alley he passed and end his life instead of theirs. Sweat runs down his entire body. To John, it seems like the closer he gets the more his sweat glands torture his eyes. His hair is wet and ruffled. His black jacket aged beyond belief. His green khaki pants crinkled and scuffed. His brown casual shoes, which oddly resembles a clown’s elongated shoes, are no better. His left shoe has been worn down to the point that the sole is partially hanging off and noticeable to any passerby with every step he takes. John wonders how he never noticed how gloomy and dreadful London looks at night. It sickens him.

Hello everyone. This’ll be my first time speaking in our meetings.

My name is Jimmy, and I’m an addict that’s been looking to drop the ‘g’.

The Game is something difficult to ween off of. Pursuit of one night stands, I mean highs, enthralled me for such a long time. I’ll be remiss if I excluded the euphoria’s I kept coming back for. Each one giving me a different, and far from a trite, experience. Cocaine, my oh my, she was an interesting cohort. When we were together, we brought each other as high as the stars could get. If we separated for even a short period time, I became lethargic, dragged my legs, and did absolutely nothing. I craved her more than any other female. Now, Meth was “My Girl.” She had me believing I was in heaven, no matter where I was. My heartbeat raced when she touched my soul, but that sense of feeling diminished more and more each time we hooked up. I cheated on her with Molly though because with Molly, music and sex never felt better. Addiction is just another word for adventure. The Game had me exploring wonders of the world through different eyes, different mouth, different skin. That’s the problem. I’ve been looking to drop the ‘g’ because I want to explore the wonders of the world with my own body. Experience the taste and feel of Ambrosia with every tastebud and skin cell that is my own. Do my mind and body wrong with the sweetest sin; the sweetest drug that is good for the soul. I need that God-made intoxication. My Yang.

The Good in Fear

Ok, ladies and gents. I love a good adrenaline rush, and scary movies and nightmares satiate that desire. This post is a different than anything else I’ve written. Just another day in the life of me. 🙂

Jade

My heart is steady as I walk down the stairs. I’ve lived in this house for 22 years, so navigating in the dark is second nature. Unbeknownst to me, I have become desensitized to the darkness, and that is all because of second nature. The childhood monsters that used to lie in wait within it have ceased to exist now.

As I head into the kitchen for my midnight drink, I hear subtle sounds of movement behind me. I immediately turn around, but nothing is heard. “Blame it on the groggy state… because you’re hearing things,” I think to myself. The blood in my veins has gained a bit of speed. Tonight is becoming something unfamiliar, but I shrug it off.

I reach for the fridge and tug it open. The light emitting from within it barely illuminates the kitchen, but is enough to confirm visually what I believe by second nature to be the layout of the kitchen. As I reach for my favorite midnight drink, I see on the right-side of my peripheral vision a human-like figure watching me from the kitchen corner. I let out a high pitch scream. I drop my drink, and scream even more at the top of my lungs. Before I hear the thump of the container hitting the ground, I run to the left, where the opening of the kitchen is to flip the lights on. Once I do, I frantically turn towards the other side of the kitchen listening intensely for movement, but the only thing heard, beside the racing of my beating heart, is the emptying of a gallon of my snack. I’m desperately searching the other corners of the kitchen hoping that something, someone was actually there, but to no avail. My blood is rushing uncomfortably.
